Bird Seeds.

Logan, Ava and I were laying in my bed. Our nightly routine is a Bedtime Story, a Song, and a Joke (told by Ava first, then Logan, then me). This happens every night that the three of us go to sleep in my bed. After the joke, it's usually no more talking, close your eyes, etc.

After tonight's jokes, Ava asked if she could kiss the baby. Of course I'm going to let her kiss the baby, so I said yes. Logan then kissed the baby goodnight, too.

I then asked Ava, "What do you think is in Mommy's belly? Is it a girl or a boy?" She said a girl (just like she always does). I then asked Logan, who always says it's a boy. Sure enough, he said it was a boy, and commented that he will be sad if the baby is a girl. Logan said that he wants the baby to be a boy so they (Chad, Logan and the baby) can be The Three Mouseketeers.

I asked him if there was anything we could do, if the baby is a girl. I explained that there was nothing we could do but be happy. He then said that if the baby comes out without a bird, that he will not be happy. Then he said (as serious as can be), "You and Daddy need to make a potion. And you need to put the potion in the ground, and plant it. Then it's going to grow and make a flower with some Bird Seeds. We can take the seeds and put it on the baby to make a bird." I wish I could have taped that conversation.

I explained that you can't grow birds on girls. I told him he should be happy no matter what the baby's gender is, because boys and girls are both fun to play with. I tried explaining that Jesus put this baby in my belly, and only Jesus knows what it is right now. Jesus either wants us to have another boy or another girl, and we should be thankful that you and Ava are going to get a brother or a sister.

That was it for the night. I dropped it, and we went to sleep.

This morning, I told Chad to ask Logan about last night's conversation. Again, Logan explained that he would not be happy if the baby was a girl, because then they couldn't be The Three Mouseketeers (Mickey, Donald, and Goofy). Chad told Logan that it would be ok if there was no Three Mouseketeers, and that Chad was going to be happy either way. Logan said, "Okaaay." (He sounded so disappointed that it might not happen.)

Later this afternoon, I asked Logan and Ava what was in my belly again. Of course, Ava said it was a girl, and Logan said, "I think it's a boy, but it might be a girl!" Whew.

*On May 3, Logan and I were shopping in Target. Logan had a toy recorder, and was playing with it while we shopped. He would record something, then listen to himself talk over and over. One of the recordings was, "I love you, Mom, because you will always be my Mommy." Another said, "My name is Logan....L-O-G-A-N." Some said, "My Mommy has a baby in her belly and it might be a boy, and it might be a girl. I'm still going to be happy and love it if it's a girl." And the last one, "Thank you Jesus for giving my Mommy a baby in her belly."
