The Dentist.

Logan and Ava had appointments to see the Dentist today. I called to make the appointments less than a week ago, so I was surprised to hear that they could see them both today. I have been preparing Ava, explaining that they would count her teeth and make sure they are growing. It would be Logan's 4th visit to a Dentist and Ava's 1st.

We were going to Burleson Pediatric Dentistry, which was new to both Logan and Ava. As soon as we walked in, both Logan and Ava were drawn to the toys and video games in the waiting area (which made it easier for me to fill out paperwork).

Logan and Ava were called to the back, and the assistants were wonderful. Logan had his x-rays taken first, and Ava watched. When he was done, he went into the chair to begin his cleaning while Ava sat for her x-rays. The assistants know how to talk to children and made this visit so pleasurable for both of them. They brushed Ava's teeth, but did a full cleaning on Logan's.

Logan was given tiger sunglasses to put on, while he watched TV during his cleaning. Ava was happy with a latex glove.

Dr. Martin walked up to examine Ava, and said everything looked wonderful! He counted 20 teeth.

Dr. Martin went to Logan and said his teeth looked great, too! He has 20 teeth as well. The Dentist commented on some 'brown spots' on two of Logan's back teeth, and asked me if he had reoccurring ear infections when he was under 18 months old. (Yes.) He said the 'brown spots' are not harmful or signs of decay or softness, but a sign that he ran higher fevers when he was young. I was told not to be worried if the spots show up on his adult teeth as well, as they are usually on both sets. I was also told that Logan has a small mouth for his teeth, as there may be little room for his adult teeth when they come in. I was told that by the time he was 6 or 7, he may need a retainer to make more room so the teeth can come in properly. Maybe. It's just something to watch.

We then went to look at the x-rays. Ava's teeth look great. Her adult teeth look just as good. Logan's teeth look great, too. His adult teeth, on the other hand....he has one tooth that is rotated 80 degrees because there is not much room for it to grow into, like mentioned before. He is also missing a set of molars, but they could be 'hiding' below the area where the x-ray was taken.

Logan and Ava were each given new toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, stickers, and then allowed to pick a prize from the drawer. They were so excited!
.
We left and went to Target, where I allowed Logan and Ava to each get a new toy. Logan picked Spiderman, and Ava picked a My Little Pony set (yes, I said set. Set, in this case, = 20 of the smallest tea cups you can imagine). They deserved these toys, though!
