Louisiana Bound.

Last Tuesday, Logan, Ava and I took a trip to Louisiana. I prepared for the 9 hour drive, but never prepared for how smoothly the trip would be. In 9 hours, we stopped three times. Once to eat lunch with Chad, and twice to get gas. I put the potty in the van, so we never really 'stopped' for potty breaks. It was a quick (and clean) stop, then we continued our drive. Logan and Ava were such good travelers! They were wonderful!

The week went by fast. Wednesday, I took Logan to the ENT. Six months ago, we found out Logan had a hole in his ear drum. Because this could lead to hearing loss, we have to have his hearing checked every six months. Thankfully, he continues to pass the hearing tests. I also got him a custom made ear plug made for his right ear. He picked blue, and couldn't wait to show it off to Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw.

Thursday, I took my van to Nissan. My van made one year in May, and there are numerous problems that needed to be fixed. Of course, Greg LeBlanc Nissan gave me just as many excuses as there are problems. In my opinion, no vehicle should leak water (or as they called it sweat) on your foot as you are driving on long trips. This is the second new vehicle I own, and the first to have this issue. After a day of my van being in the shop, they replaced the back carpet - and did a horrible replacement job - and couldn't find any issues with the a/c leaking water - or sweat.

On Friday, Chad met us at my Moms. It was nice to have him surprise Logan and Ava in Louisiana, as I don't think they realized he would meet us there.

Monday I took Ava to the doctor for her 2 year check-up. (Yes, I am about 4 months late.) I once made an appointment at her doctor here in Fort Worth, but didn't want to confuse immunization records, so I canceled. The nurse pricked her finger for an iron test, and Ava was ok with it....until she saw the blood. "She made B-L-O-O-O-O-D!" No, Ava was not a happy camper. They gave her a band-aid, and all seemed well for about two minutes. The nurse came back in the room to give the injection: Hep A. Of course Ava cried this time.

Tuesday we packed up to come back home. I expected another smooth ride, but by the time we reached the end of my Mom and Dad's street, they were both crying, saying they wanted to go back. Thirty minutes later, I decided to stop by Dollar Tree to buy them each a new book. Logan picked a book, and Ava picked a baby. Then it was nearing 12:00 PM, and I knew they would be getting hungry - even though they ate a big breakfast at 11. Sure enough, we got into Lafayette and stopped for lunch. The next 4 or 5 hours included movies, naps, and gas stops. We met Chad for dinner, and then had about 2 hours to drive until we got home. I was pooped. The drive isn't that bad, but it sure is nice to be home.
