30 Weeks.

Today, I had an appointment for my 30 week check-up. (I am actually 29 weeks and 6 days but the office is closed tomorrow for the 4th of July, so I went a day early.) When I spoke to Chad yesterday, he mentioned that he would not be able to make it home for 2:00pm to watch Logan and Ava while I went to the doctor. I called Dr. Ondrizek's office to reschedule, and mentioned that I didn't want to have to go there with two children. I was told that it was ok, and that the staff doesn't mind children. I kept the appointment.

I printed coloring sheets and packed colors, I was prepared. Logan and Ava sat in the waiting room, and were very well behaved. Once we went to the back, they were just as good, asking lots of questions and attempting to touch everything in sight - what would you expect from a four year old and a two year old? Ava thought "the doctor" was going to take the baby out of my belly today.

Dr. Ondrizek came into the room, and acknowledged Logan and Ava first. Ava informed him that I indeed did have a baby in my belly. Dr. Ondrizek asked Logan and Ava what they thought the baby was: a boy or a girl? Logan said a boy, while Ava insists it's a girl.

Dr. Ondrizek asked Logan if he would like to help him find the baby's heartbeat. Logan said yes, so Dr. Ondrizek put Logan on the bed with me, and asked him to squeeze some gel on my belly. He did. Lucky for me, it was all in one big pile, and not the letters L-O-G-A-N written across my stomach! Dr. Ondrizek then handed Logan the doppler, and asked him to put it on my belly, to see if he could find the baby's heartbeat. Sure enough, the doppler was in the exact location it needed to be in, and the sound of baby#3 came through the speaker. Logan smiled as he held the doppler.

Dr. Ondrizek then picked up the doppler, and handed Logan some tissue to wipe up the gel. Although Dr. Ondrizek laughed and said, "This is usually fun to watch", Logan did a great job cleaning my belly.

Dr. Ondrizek said that everything looks good, and that the baby appears to be small but catching up and "getting there". (Logan was 6 pounds, and Ava was 7....it's to be expected.)

Before leaving, Dr. Ondrizek commented that Logan and Ava were very well behaved. I thanked him, and appologized for having to bring them with me to the appointment. Dr. Ondrizek said that they love children at the office, and they try to involve the older siblings as much as they can when they are here. I thanked him again, and thought about my old OB's office, where they insisted children stay home....talk about one extreme to another!

Logan was so proud to help the doctor today. He told Chad, he told Maw-Maw, he told Paw-Paw, and he told Tee-Tee! I didn't have my camera, so I couldn't take any pictures, but it's definitely a memory that Logan will remember for a long time.
